New Cultural Center Opening In Beirut

Housed in a restored 1930s-era mansion in Clemenceau, the non-profit and independent art foundation will bring together artists, writers, historians, performers, filmmakers, and critics from the region and beyond. The exhibitions will center on historical, modern and contemporary cultural production from Palestine, the Levant and abroad.

The space will serve as a home for cultural performances and educational activities including film screenings, concerts, lectures and debates. Artists engaged in community outreach, particularly through youth programs, will be given priority.

Dar El-Nimer is founded by Nablus-born Rami El-Nimer, who has been a passionate art collector from a young age. Drawing from El-Nimer’s own philosophy about the importance of art, the foundation and the exhibits will serve as point of resistance against cultural appropriation and memory erasure.
