Are you ready for what lies ahead of you after graduation? I’m gonna go ahead and answer that question for you: No. No, you are not.
I’ve been on the job hunt for a few months and one thing that irks me to the core is the lack of respect recruiters and interviewers have for applicants, especially fresh graduates. To start, most of them have these insane standards that make it impossible for ANYONE to become gainfully employed.
After months of applying and getting little to no response, someone finally calls for a one-on-one interview. You arrive to said interview, which in my most recent case was with a robotic blonde woman who asked a bunch of mind-numbing questions before concluding with this:
You end up back at home feeling a mixture of despair and absolute rage. You decide to retreat to the one place you know you will never be rejected: the couch.
But after a few hours it’s clear the time has come to pick yourself up and move on. Like the brave and classy broad that I am, I get back to work in an effort to reclaim my title as the unofficial networking queen of the world.
I start browsing Linkedin for potential new opportunities when I’m met with a message from one memorable blonde interviewer who has, in the last three hours, managed to hire someone at the very company I was just told wasn’t currently hiring anyone.
